Member Query – Pay Protection

This member request is regarding an undergoing organisation-wide review of jobs and job families, that may result in the re-alignment of individuals to a job at a lower grade than they currently hold. The company is particularly interested in understanding how others approach pay protection for such individuals, including:

  • Do you have a pay protection policy for staff who are redeployed or re-mapped to jobs at a lower grade?
  • If so, please explain briefly how the protection works, and for how long?
  • If staff do have their pay at a higher grade protected, how are annual pay awards typically treated?
  • Does the protection fall away if the individual subsequently moves to another role?
