Conference Retrospective: Re-imagining the New Landscape: Reset, Renew and Thrive

We hope this Retrospective, with its session videos and summaries, speaker and delegate insights, and key takeaways, facilitates the application of significant learning points to your own organisational challenges. And we hope to be able to see you all in person again for our International Conference in Athens in October 2021.

This year, we were supposed to all be together in sunny Athens, networking, learning, and exchanging ideas at CRF’s 12th International Conference. 2020, of course, had other plans. We decided to adapt quickly and try something new. Thanks to an outstanding range of leading business thinkers and our partners, we were able to deliver our first Digital Conference, Re-imagining the New Landscape: Reset, Renew and Thrive.

Time was limited, the technology took a bit of practice, and the full experience can never be replicated, but even in this new all-virtual environment, more than 600 of us managed to discuss, debate, question, challenge, network, and reflect. We encountered new ideas, developed new insights, and drew new conclusions.

We learned how to reframe problems to find better solutions. We examined fixed, binary leadership thinking and learned how to disrupt it. We discovered tools for good decision-making in conditions of unpredictability, how to effectively lead virtual teams, and how to get the people and organisational components of digital transformation right in order to achieve success. We learned how to build cultures of innovation. We took a fresh look at employee wellbeing and experience, and at the role of HR leaders in using this crisis as a force for change and improvement in our organisations. Perhaps most importantly, we learned that we must put ourselves in a position of discomfort and test our capabilities and attitudes to reset and renew our organisations so that they can thrive in a difficult future.

We hope this Retrospective, with its session videos and summaries, speaker and delegate insights, and key takeaways, facilitates the application of significant learning points to your own organisational challenges. And we hope to be able to see you all in person again for our International Conference in Athens in October 2021.
