Member Query – Buy Out Policy for New Hires
In this member query, a member is reviewing their buy-out policy for new hires and would like to explore current practice within the PARC membership. At present, the organisation requesting the information would buy-out deferred awards with restricted stock.
1. With new hires, do you ever buy-out or compensate deferred awards?
2. If so, do you specify a buy-out value or a number of shares / units?
3. If you use a “provisional” and a “final” valuation, when is the buy-out value finalised – at offer, upon joining or at a different point?
4. What factors are taken into account for any “final” valuations?
