Hugh is Chief Human Resources and Corporate Officer at Royal Dutch Shell. His responsibilities include human resources, real estate, communications and external affairs, aircraft, health and security. He also has regional oversight responsibility for most of Sub-Saharan Africa. He was appointed HR Director of Royal Dutch Shell in 2005 and became a member of the Executive Committee in 2007.

Hugh is a member of the Board for the Centre for Advanced Human Resources at Cornell University and a Foundation Board member of IMD business school. He is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources in the USA.
