Rewarding for Future Success: Research Report Meeting

Date:
Spring 2009

Venue: TBC

Speakers:
Paul Williams

The Issue:

There was agreement among members at the PARC meeting in November 2007 that most performance measurement today is too financially-focused and backward looking. There was also agreement that the concepts of 'sustainability' and 'resilience', as introduced by Professor Sir Andrew Likierman of London Business School, provide a valuable framework for developing a new way forward.

In our meeting report, we said that PARC would progress this debate to provide clear guidelines and support for reward practitioners. In particular, we want to set out a better way of linking reward to strategy.

The Research Report Meeting:

We committed to sponsor further research and will convene an informal meeting in Spring 2008 to develop the concepts further. The outputs will be presented at the above meeting which will be led by Paul Williams.

We believe this subject is of critical business importance which should be on every Board agenda. We feel there is exciting potential for some 'breakthrough' thinking with real application. Members will be invited to participate directly in this project by sharing views and insights, and a small working party will be convened to progess the debate.
